Haibun: Exposed Cold

Often the desert is the brutal sun, burning everything left exposed. As deep as the emotions in me go towards pleasure, they can turn in an instance to disgust. As deep as the sun’s high heats burn, so can the numbness of frozen hands as it rains down, nothing to slow it. Sunless and no trees, no canopy of leaves or even branches to slow it, everything exposed. The same well of happiness is the well of my sorrow, the same exposer for heat is the same for freezing. The desert is harsh and rugged at all times.
