Haibun: Beaver Moon

It could be what part of the planet I call home, but the autumn caught my attention again this year.

In the beginning of its phase, it was how it sat alone with the pine trees on Mogollon Rim. The second was as it started its phase out: yellow and large just above the irrigated fields, yet mysteriously hiding most of itself behind the clouds.

In each way though, it’s a relief to be caught away from this world right now, away from the raw processes and emotions of power, and to be pulled into something so consistent and non-judgmental as this “Beaver Moon.”
