Haibun: Arriving

It’s still so hot. So as we work ourselves into a calendared autumn with each day still crossing over a 100 degrees, the geese from Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and Alberta find their way here. 

It’s October, we swim in the river with the geese who spook each other in the cat tales and the weeds. It’s new for them, it’s new for us. It’s new because we are still settling the West together.
