Haibun: Law of Nature

All the rules have changed this year. Every store is different as is every expectation with social distancing and wearing a mask or not, yet summer drifts on.

Yet when I head off into the wild—that unplanned, uncurated, other world—I head off into a place where the rules of society and government fade off. These rules can either melt in the sun or wash away in the rain. Maybe it’s the wind that takes the Judicial and Constitutional theories of laws and rights away in a million directions? All we espouse and decree are subservient to the laws of nature.

And in this natural law rule set, on a hot day, things seem to always get lazy.

a cloud set against
the blue sky, unfenced, condensed;

to drift like summer.

& Haiku: Solo Cloud
