Haibun: River Lighthouse

Fraught with the baggages of travel, she finds her way. Naturally it all makes sense when she turns the corner and sees signs for home.

For some, it could be Superstition Mountain or Four Peaks, others, maybe it’s a “406 miles to New York?” We each have our markers.

Her breathing slows with her heart rate as her body feels the callings of home because she can now hear these callings; clearer, louder, faster with each marker.

around the bend’s wall
the willows stand tall: lighthouse.
spring calls forth all life
