Haibun: Warm Hope

Maybe it’s the way the dusk light casts its warm light against the dark and long shadows of dusk that pulls out my hope? At the end of the day with the last streaks of light giving a yellowish brown tint to all around it, you would think it would be the exact opposite of hope, like sorrow or remorse or other emotions of ending. But it is not.

I think the hope is in those colors, the calm, the peace that comes with the way the light holds the hue. I can attest to the emotions that run through me as I stand there looking at the warm glow of dusk is the same that I feel when I am hopeful.

I am but a witness to this daily ritual of hope.

late evening’s warm glow

deep hearted hope grows and shows

winter keeps the flow
