Haibun: Desert Becomings

The colors drain from the clouds and dark becomes. In the desert, the Buddha says, “this arises, that becomes.” Night, that which becomes. When the sun rises the next morning, that day becomes.

Always changing, the desert is always becoming in new and unique way. And yet, you and I still hold onto the stories of the past to define the difference in the same way, all so we feel we can survive the changes.
