Haibun: ChatGPT

Like the rest of the world, this week I spent some time playing with ChatGPT. (In case you haven’t heard, it is an advanced AI chat bot from Open AI). It was impressive how ChatGPT could write an essay in seconds.

But as I typed different commands and read the different responses, I couldn’t see anything real about it. The model is based on using the highest probable next word based on the command, there is no emotion to it. There was no sense of conviction to an experience.

As AI advances in writing, I believe a chasm will form between the authentic writing of real humans and the predictive writing produced by AI algorithms, pop up brands, and those who write without empathy.
